Patient Advice and Liaison Service

Sussex Partnership staff at the CAMHS in Hampshire launch event

Patient Advice and Liaison (PALS) is a free service provided by Sussex Partnership during office hours. The team can provide information about local healthcare and will work with you to solve any problems you are having accessing or using our health services.

PALS is open to everyone whatever their gender, age, sexual orientation, disability (including mental distress), race or religion and belief. There is a PALS in all NHS organisations

What does PALS do with the information you give us?

When you contact PALS you can be confident that we will be careful with the information you give us. Any information that we keep will be securely stored. You can ask to see it at any time.

We will only speak to people about what you tell us with your agreement unless there are exceptional circumstances. We will be careful to protect your anonymity when we use your experiences to highlight where Sussex Partnership might needs to make changes.

PALS works closely with Social Services and voluntary sector organisations. If we cannot answer your questions or resolve your concern we will know someone that can. PALS at Sussex Partnership can also put you in touch with PALS in other NHS organisations.

What sort of help can PALS offer?

People contact PALS for a wide variety of reasons – here are some examples:

  • I want to know how to access services
  • I am unhappy with the staff member I am working with
  • I need support to use the complaints procedure
  • I am worried about a member of my family
  • I am having trouble getting the right information
  • I need information about waiting times
  • I have ideas I want to contribute

Why contact PALS?

PALS will listen and work out with you the best solution to your problem. PALS is separate from the care teams and services that the trust runs and so can be impartial.  PALS knows its way around the organisation and so is able to point you in the right direction quickly and understands who is the most effective person to speak with to sort out the problem you are having.

PALS also makes sure that the things that you tell us about the organisation contribute to improvement work and strategic planning. What you tell us will make a difference.
