I have been a service user for over 18 years and have experienced first hand both the positive and negative aspects of support available to those suffering from mental ill health.
As a Time for Change Champion, I feel passionate about reducing the stigma around mental health and fully embrace the trusts zero suicide target. I am a mental health first aider and have completed the ASIST suicide first aid course. I have led workshops in mental health awareness and from my work within the community providing therapeutic interventions; I hear first-hand, people’s experiences when dealing with mental health issues. My background in business also gives me a good understanding of how organisations are managed so I feel comfortable working as part of the board.
I believe it is critical to have governors to represent the interests of the members of Sussex Partnership and provide a voice for service users to help shape future services and ensure they best match the needs of the community.
