“In the NHS you are definitely supported, and I have the privilege of working with an excellent team. I also get great job satisfaction - even if I make a difference to one person’s life, that is an amazing thing to be able to do!”

Having joined the NHS ten years ago, Steven says that he has no intention of ever moving to the private sector: “I’ve stayed in the NHS because you really feel invested in. When I was a Band 3, I was given the same opportunities that I am given today as a Band 7 - developing my skills and the role that I work in.”

We asked Steven what it is about the NHS that he thinks makes it so great: “What I love most about the NHS is that we have all been receivers of the NHS – it is for all of us. Also, we can nit-pick and comment on the things that we would change, but by working in the NHS we can all be part of making those positive changes, and improving the experience that our service users and families have.”
