Kim Ballesteros

“Since joining the NHS, I have never regretted my decision to move! I love how the training is structured here, and that the senior managers offer you opportunities to develop yourself further in your career."

Kim Ballesteros currently works as a Charge Nurse on Coral Ward, an adult acute mental health ward, at Langley Green hospital in Crawley. Kim has been working in the NHS for three years after previously working in the private sector: “After qualifying five years ago, I was working in a dementia care home - but I really wanted to work in the NHS.

“Since joining the NHS, I have never regretted my decision to move! I love how the training is structured here, and that the senior managers offer you opportunities to develop yourself further in your career. For example, my interests in physical health have been supported and I have been given the opportunity to be the physical heath lead and infection control lead, and my ideas and suggestions have been taken on board. I feel really supported here and I am so proud to be part of the NHS.”

We asked Kim what she thinks is so great about the NHS: “The NHS provides care for everyone. Treatment is not given based on who the person is or what their social status is – it is for everyone, and everyone had the same opportunity to receive treatment and support.”
