Helen Dove and Emily David

Inspired to Improve

Silver

Helen and Emily received the silver award for their innovative campaigns to support and involve children and young people in thinking about their mental wellbeing.

Helen Dove and Dr Emily David work in the Innovations and Participation Team for Hampshire Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).

Their work involves developing innovative campaigns and resources to get children and young people thinking about mental health, and in particular how they can look after their own wellbeing.

One of their most successful projects was the Everybody Campaign, a year-long campaign focused on body image and self-esteem that ran in 2018.

The campaign itself involved thousands of young people across Hampshire and many more will continue to experience benefits as a result of the resources produced during the campaign.

The team also developed a new website for Hampshire CAMHS in 2018 aimed at young people, parents and carers and healthcare professionals. It offers safe, trustworthy, informative and engaging advice, information and guidance on mental health and emotional wellbeing.

And they’re not stopping there. The team continues to create new ideas and push the boundaries of their work to engage, teach and inspire. They actively pursue collaborations with local and national organisations, charities, key partners and young people, as they see the value in cooperation and working together.

One of their nominators said: ‘The Innovation and Participation team is passionate and hard working in their endeavours to create youth appropriate projects that have true value and meaningful impact.’
