A message from Colm Donaghy, CEO

One of our values is ‘everyone counts’. This means we value, appreciate and respect each other.

Staff side colleagues have highlighted to me the apparent national increase in abusive behaviour experienced by non British people from other European countries since this year’s referendum.

This is sad and worrying to hear.

One of the many strengths of our NHS is the diversity of our workforce. Our local communities are also enriched by diversity.

At Sussex Partnership we believe people should be able to achieve their full potential regardless of age, disability, race, nationality, ethnic or national origin, gender, religion, sexual orientation or domestic circumstances.

In the light of the concerns staff side raised with me, I thought it was timely to restate this. I hope you will join me in challenging and reporting any behaviour you see, whether in the workplace or the wider community, which runs counter to this. Our health service and our society are stronger through unity and mutual respect.

Colm Donaghy, Chief Executive
