Career pathways and development
We know that building on your personal and professional development are key to providing the best patient care.
At Sussex Partnership, we know our people are our biggest asset. We are committed to providing a working environment where you can progress your career, build your knowledge base and develop your skillset.
We know that a culture focussed on personal and professional development has a direct impact on the care we provide to our service users. We are working hard to create new pathways for people to join our Trust and work in mental health and learning disability services, and pathways for staff to progress with us.
Apprenticeships
As a Trust we have a commitment to provide the widest range of apprenticeships possible, to give everyone a chance to join us and enhance their career with us, no matter their background. We offer a wide range of clinical and administrative based apprenticeships, ranging from Level 2 GCSE level to a Level 7 at Master’s Degree level.
Preceptorships
Sussex Partnership provides a preceptorship programme over the first year after qualification to support you in your transition from student to registered clinician. Making sure that newly qualified clinicians are supported through this transition is an important priority for our Trust. We currently offer preceptorship programmes for our nursing and allied health professional colleagues. To find out more, click on the relevant professional group below.
Return to practice
We value ‘return to practice’ nurses very highly and our teams will provide the support you need to get you through this process. We can offer you the placements you need to refresh your clinical and professional skills, reach the standard required to register with the NMC, and provide the personal support you need to make this transition.
If you're looking to Return to Practice, click here to express your interest. A dedicated member of our team will be in touch to provide any additional information and advise on next steps. Any information you share will be saved securely on our system and used to support you. It will not be shared externally without your permission.
Training and development
At Sussex Partnership we believe our approach to training and development is second to none. From day one you will be encouraged to learn, without being pushed at a pace you are uncomfortable with. We pride ourselves on our excellent levels of supervision and coaching, which allows our managers to understand your needs and motivations, and work with you to achieve them in a way that suits you.
The Sussex Partnership Health and Care Academy
Our Health and Care Academy sits in the Department of Nursing Research, Education and Development and works in partnership with further education providers. The main aims of the Health and Care Academy are to provide opportunities for people of all ages and from all backgrounds across Sussex and Hampshire to join the trust in order to grow our highly motivated multi-professional workforce.
Our initial focus to date has been on working with GB MET College as our first college partner, to provide insight placements for Access to Nursing students who are interested in a career in the NHS through Sussex Partnership. Our Health Care Support Workers support the students through mentoring.
The next aims for the Health and Care Academy is help create an exciting new T-Level course and open up placements for students from 16 years and up, in partnership with local colleges and with the offer of apprenticeships or non-apprenticeship posts at the end of it.
