Work experience
We run a work experience program three times a year offering students placements in a variety of teams across the Trust.
Completing a work experience placement with us can be very fulfilling. It can provide you with an insight into the work we do and give you the knowledge and experience to take your first steps towards a fulfilling career in the NHS.
Our placements start with an induction day at our Trust Headquarters in Worthing where we will meet with you an introduce you to the team you will be working with and outline your schedule for the week.
How to apply
You can apply for a work experience placement with us by completing an online application form. The form asks you to write a statement of intent, this is where you can tell us about you and your areas of interest both in and out of school as well as what your career aspirations currently are. We understand that you may not know this now and that is okay too.
Our placements run during school holidays and applicants are expected to be available for the duration of the week. We are unable to accept applications if you are planning to be away/on holiday during any part of the week.
Each of our cohorts has an application period of two weeks, which opens 8 weeks before the start of the placement.
The October cohort is open to applications from 1 September and we invite you to apply.
The October 2025 cohort runs from 27 to 31 October 2025.
Applications are open for two weeks from 1 - 15 September 2025.
The February 2026 cohort runs from 16 - 20 February 2026.
Applications are open for two weeks from 29 December - 12 January 2026.
The link to apply will be available from 29 December 2025.
The July 2026 cohort runs from 27 - 31 July 2026.
Applications are open for two weeks from 1 - 15 June 2026
The link to apply will be available from 1 June 2026.
What happens after I submit my application?
Once you have submitted your application it will be reviewed by our work experience team and the process will begin for us to place you with a team.
You will receive an email from us within three weeks from the closing date to confirm your placement. If you haven’t heard from us within this period, please check your junk folder in your email account.
You will be asked to reply to the email to confirm that you are happy to proceed with the application process. If you accept the placement offer, a further email will be sent to you with a link to a consent form which will need to be signed by you, or a parent/guardian if you are under 16.
We will support you from start to finish in the application process and we can be contacted at spft.wex@
Where will my work experience placement take place?
We endeavour to place you in a team that is aligned to your career aspirations or interest as much as possible, but this is not always the case. If we are unable to place you in your desired team/area of interest, we will do our very best to place in another team.
