Trans Staff Policy
Please note that our trans policies are currently under review, pending the Equality and Human Rights Commission's updated statutory guidance expected in summer 2025. The new statutory guidance will outline how the Supreme Court ruling of 16 April - on how the terms "woman" and "sex" are defined in the Equality Act - will apply to NHS workplaces and services. Our trans policies will both align to this new statutory guidance and ensure that the rights of all of our staff and service users are upheld.
This policy ensures trans staff are treated with dignity and respect, and not disadvantaged on the basis of their trans identity, as required in law.
The Trust is committed to supporting trans applicants throughout the recruitment process, and trans staff throughout their employment, including supporting members of staff through any transitioning process.
