beseen questionnaire FAQs

Find answers to questions you may have about the beseen questionnaire.

No. Completing the beseen questionnaire is entirely optional. If you choose not to complete it, your referral will continue as normal, and you will still receive the support you need.

Please complete the questionnaire at least a few hours before your appointment to ensure there is time for it to be reviewed.

The questionnaire is designed to gather your personal self-reported views and symptoms, so it is important that your answers reflect your experience and that you feel that you can be open and honest in your responses. However, if you feel comfortable, a family member, friend or carer can support you in reading or using the device. Please note that the tool is currently only suitable for those who can read and understand English. Also, you may want to consider who you could seek support from if you find the questions difficult to answer. Get urgent support if needed.

Yes. Unlike the previous version, beseen (v2.0) now includes specific screening questions for ADHD and Autism traits (using the ASRS and AQ-10 measures).

Important: beseen is not a diagnostic tool. It cannot diagnose any condition, including ADHD or Autism, but the information you provide can help clinicians identify traits that may require further specialist assessment.

Not at the moment. Currently, the platform is only available in English. If you require an interpreter for your assessment, this will be arranged for your face-to-face appointment.

Once submitted, your report can be accessed by Sussex Partnership staff via a secure link from your electronic patient record (a secure digital platform that holds your personal information, contact details and medical history). It is stored with the same level of security as your other medical records. Read Sussex Partnership's privacy policy to find out more information about how your data is used.

The questionnaire is provided by our partner Psyomics, who are a data processor for us. The information you provide is not shared with them in an identifiable form. The responses collected from the questionnaire are stored securely in encrypted servers that are compliant with UK data protection regulations. You can read the Psyomics Platform Privacy Policy on their website

You will be able to see your answers on the home screen when you log onto the beseen platform, however, the report generated by the questionnaire is not automatically sent to you. The report is aimed at mental health professionals and may contain terminology that is confusing to non-mental health professionals. It is our policy to keep you informed about your care and involve you in the process, therefore, it would be more meaningful to go through the report with a member of our mental health team. The information should be used to guide your appointment but if you would like to go through the report please ask at your appointment.

If you wish to access the report, or any of the information stored about you, you can request information under Data Protection Legislation, by emailing spft.recordsmanagement@nhs.net.

The report will be shared with people involved directly in your care, within the service you have been referred to. It helps them prepare for your appointment and ensures they have a clear picture of your needs before you meet. If you are referred to one of our partner organisations, such as Talking Therapies services, information from the report and your initial assessment will be shared as part of the referral process.

The automated system is scheduled to send reminders on day 2, day 4, and day 6 to ensure you have enough time to complete the questionnaire. As soon as you submit your completed questionnaire, all reminders are automatically cancelled. You can turn off notifications using the link on the SMS reminder text messages. After clicking on the link you will then not receive any further messages.
