CPD programme planned for the Provider Collaborative

Launching in early 2026, it is proposed that clinical and operational staff from across the Provider Collaborative, as well as Experts by Experience, will be invited to attend a one-day in-person CPD training day, which will take place every six months.
The day will focus on key issues and areas of mutual interest identified by partner organisations, as well as training on mental health law and clinical developments.
The shape of the CPD training days was informed by a survey of attendees at the Clinical Governance meeting in July who were asked about their preference for in-person versus virtual training, duration and frequency of training. The survey will be repeated at the Quality and Safety Meeting to make sure that the proposed approach works for everyone.
In addition, Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust proposes to run a two-day CPD training course on structured professional judgement risk assessment tools in 2026. The first day will cover the HCR-20, which assesses risk of violence, while the second day will focus on the RSVP (Risk of Sexual Violence Protocol), for the assessment of risk of sexual violence. The aim of these sessions is to enhance clinical confidence and consistency in risk formulation across the Provider Collaborative.
Michael Kingham, Clinical Director for the Provider Collaborative, said: "The CPD training programme will help to further develop the collegiate culture of the Provider Collaborative, build relationships and ensure staff are equipped with the knowledge and skills to deliver safe, effective care."
The Provider Collaborative is also looking to establish a knowledge exchange between provider partners, for example sharing information about national or regional training programmes that would benefit staff and enhance learning. Further information on this will follow.
