Meet the team...Sam Evans

Sam Evans.pngMeet Sam Evans. She holds not one, but two roles with the Provider Collaborative – Case Manager and Quality and Safeguarding Manager. Read on to find out what she most enjoys about her work and discover which famous Italian landmark she is recreating (with Lego) in her spare time.

Tell us a bit about your role

I have two different roles. One is as Case Manager where I oversee the care of young people in CAMHS inpatient units and get involved when young people in the community are at risk of admission. The other is as Quality and Safeguarding Manager - this is more to do with the overall quality of care in the units commissioned by the Provider Collaborative.

How long have you been in your role/working for the Provider Collaborative?

Just over 4 years – I started at the beginning of October 2021

What's the best thing about your job?

I love seeing the young people and speaking to them about their experiences in hospitals and using their views to help improve the care they and other young people receive and to help us develop future services. I also like visiting different units to see how they run and how they all do things differently.

How did you get into the role?

I previously worked as a practice development nurse across three inpatient CAMHS units and before that as a liaison nurse in a general hospital. In these roles I had contact with the case managers and other colleagues in the PC. I have always been interested in the case manager role so when a vacancy came up, I went for it.

What do you like to do outside of work?

We have just got a dog. He’s chocolate labrador who is only 8 months old, so he takes up a lot of my time.  It’s the first time we've had a dog, so we’re still learning! He is great fun though and we are lucky to live on the edge of the New Forest, so we spend a lot of time walking. I also do Zumba every Wednesday with my daughter, and I love building Lego - my current project is the Trevi Fountain!

Is there anything people would be surprised to know about you?

I once skydived and landed on a beach in Australia!
