Change of provider for children and young people’s mental health services in Kent

Responsibility for the provision of all-age eating disorder and children and young people’s mental health services will be transferred from North East London NHS Foundation Trust (NELFT) to Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust.

This change, which will come into effect in Spring 2026, will enable more joined up support across a person’s full range of needs and help to create more seamless transition between services, particularly for young people moving into adult services. Adult mental health services are already provided by Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust.

There will not be any changes to existing service provision. Young people and their families will still be seen by the same clinicians in the same locations.

All staff are moving across to Kent and Medway Mental Health Trust from NELFT. Gill Burns, Director of Children’s Services for Kent and Essex will continue working at NELFT, and Sara Boorman, Interim Service Director, is currently managing the Kent services.
