Update on industrial action

10 March 2023

Junior doctors are expected to go on strike, from Monday 13 March and until the morning of Thursday 16 March, led by the British Medical Association.

It is expected that there will be disruption to NHS services during the 72-hour period with an impact on hospitals, mental health services and GP practices.

We are prioritising maintaining our urgent care and inpatient services during this period.

If you have an appointment scheduled with one of our community teams on these dates then it's possible we may need to rearrange this. We will contact you directly if this is the case. Please assume your appointment is going ahead if you don't hear from us.

If you need urgent help or advice in relation to your mental health, a range of support is available including the free, confidential Shout service which is available 24/7 and can be accessed by texting SUSSEX to 85258.

The Sussex Mental Health Line, that provides listening support, advice and information, is also available on 0800 0309 500.

You can also find more information on Sussex Partnership website which includes how to get urgent help.

During strike days, it is likely 999 call handlers will be very busy. The NHS UK website has more information on when to call 999 and when to go to A&E.
