Talking Therapies win National Institute for Health and Care Research award

14 February 2024

Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Talking Therapies services have won a National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) regional award in the mental health trust category, for improving the pathway for people to take part in research.

Members of the Research and Development team have been embedded in our Health in Mind and Brighton and Hove Wellbeing Service services, with the aim of better integrating research in these settings.

All service users are now automatically opted-in to the research pathway on joining the Talking Therapies services and given opportunities to be involved in research. This has increased the quantity and variety of research that can be offered and improved the integration of research in to clinical practice, which could lead to new treatments, or new ways of delivering healthcare.

The CAMHS Clinical Academic Group was also a highly commended in the Mental Health Trust category for carving a research pathway in their CAMHS services and their proactiveness to be involved in new mental health studies.
