Our new Social Work Plan launches today

1 April 2026

Our new Social Work Plan responds directly to the ambitions set out in our Organisational Strategy and explains how social work will support the delivery of our ambitions over the next five years.

The plan has been coproduced by our entire social work workforce, many of whom who came together at our Social Work Conference in June 2025 to share ideas to create a plan to support our expanding social work profession across the organisation.

Social work has grown significantly as a profession within Sussex Partnership, both in numbers, and the support provided to us and there remains much that we can improve further. By doing so, we will further strengthen the profession, which will in turn see better outcomes for our service users.

We are proud that this plan is the most comprehensive and ambitious social work plan we have ever had at Sussex Partnership. It builds on the hard work of many people over recent years.

Bryan Lynch, Director of Social Work and Safeguarding, said:

"This new five-year Social Work Plan means a lot to me, for a number of reasons.

"We have taken our time to really engage with our social workers, using our conference to gather their thoughts and for that reason, I believe it truly reflects what they want to see for social work in the coming years.

"It also directly aligns with our Organisational Strategy and, therefore, is well placed to deliver on what we want as an organisation. But, perhaps most importantly, it comes at a point where, as a profession in SPFT we can simply carry on as we are, or, we can choose to continue to develop and realise our potential in a way that benefits both our social workers and the communities we serve. My hope and belief is that this plan will allow this to happen."
